Una magnifica melodia di Irving Berlin che, in alcuni momenti dell'anno, riemerge incontenibile dalle profonditą del nostro inconscio. Senza dubbio é una delle pił belle canzoni natalizie mai scritte: evoca paesaggi urbani ovviamente innevati, i volti umani di Bing Crosby e Danny Kaye, o anche, a mio avviso, ben si adatterebbe a quello di Spencer Tracy in film bianco e nero, come "La cittą dei ragazzi" (1938), dove giovani vite devono essere salvate da crimini e da riformatori; echi di romanzi di Charles Dickens.
Ascoltata apparentemente da sempre, l'ho anche sempre identificata con i suddetti contesti.

A wonderful melody by Irving Berlin that, on some year's moments, irrepressible resurfaces itself from the depth of our collective unconscious. Without doubt it's one of the best christmas song ever composed: it raises urban landscapes of course covered by snow, the humane faces of Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye or, in my opinion too, it should well adapt to Spencer Tracy's one on his black and white films like "Boys town" (1938), where young lives of kids must be saved from crimes and reformatory; echoes of Charles Dickens' tales.
Ever seemingly listened, I have always identified it too with the above sceneries.
